Parallel Resistance Calculator

This page allows you to easily calculate the effective resistance of a set of resistors, where they are used in parallel. The calculator understands technical notations, such as 2k7 or 0R1 for 2700 ohms and zero point one ohms, respectively.

If you are reading this paragraph, then you probably don't have JavaScript installed/enabled on your computer.
At this point in time the calculators on this site are entirely dependent on JavaScript. Given enough time and money it is hoped to develop a version in the future which will be able to operate independently. Since JavaScript runs on your own computer, rather than on this server, it has been possible to set up this site much more quickly than if a server-side language was used, and it is possible to serve far more pages with the available bandwidth.

1/RTOTAL = 1/R1 + 1/R2 ... 1/Rn

  1. Enter each resistance into the text-box labelled 'Resistances:', either one at a time, or as a list
  2. Press the 'calc Resistance' button
  3. Click the spanner icon next to any entry to Alter or Remove that value
  4. Press the 'Clear Results' button if you wish to discard the current results list, otherwise further amounts will be added to the same total.
