Find Matching Five-Letter Words

Introduction

A wide variety of word-guessing games, such as the classic children's game: 'Hangman'; or 'Wordle' (now owned by The NY Times) or all types of crosswords and word-searches, require the player to identify a word (partly) based on a limited number of letters, or initially none at all!

To help identify the answer to crossword clues, type the letters that you know, into the relavant boxes of the top grid, then hit the [Show Matches] button.

For 'Hangman' suggestions use the top grid for good guesses, and the bottom grid for incorrect guesses, then hit the [Show Matches] button.

To solve 'Wordle', place 'green' letters in the top grid; place 'brown' letters in the middle grid, and place 'grey' letters in the bottom grid then hit the [Show Matches] button.

In each case, a number of lists will appear on the right-hand side, giving you choices as to how much help you get.

The source of the word-list for this tool is a cleaned-up version of the British-English dictionary used by Libre Office, with names / proper-nouns removed. This may not be exactly the same set as every word-game out there.
